Revitalizing Local History
Peter Herdic was one of the most influential figures in Williamsport. Immersed in the lumber industry, Herdic grew to millionaire status, venturing into real estate and owning many Williamsport businesses in the mid-1800s. An entrepreneur, he is in part known for his invention of the predecessor of the taxicab – a horse-drawn carriage, appropriately named the “Herdic.”

Design Phase Services Provided
Larson Design Group (LDG) completed Conceptual Planning and limited Design Development.

LDG also designed the rehabilitation of the 4,000 square foot museum building and coordinated the construction for the entrance sign.

Specific Design Techniques/Construction Monitoring/Quality Control
In the spirit of Peter Herdic’s contribution to transportation within and outside of Williamsport, the City sought to construct a museum to feature key evolutions of transportation with related artifacts, including a bus and passenger railcar. LDG provided landscaping and paving design for the area that connects the museum with the restored railcar outside. The paving design creates a visual, pedestrian juxtaposition between the museum and the railcar.

Construction Phase Services Provided
