Solar Energy Lends a Helping Hand
Energy Study: The existing building, constructed in the early 1920s, will undergo renovations to enhance its energy efficiency. A solar hot water system was recommended and installed. New gymnasium lighting was recommended and installed as well as additional insulation and more efficient windows and doors. A 2011 Utility Bill Analysis from DEP shows electricity use from the last 2 years has averaged 46% lower than the three years preceding the project and a significant decrease in natural gas usage.

Pool Study: The existing building has a pool that needs repairs and new equipment, as it was constructed in the early 1920s. The pool, locker rooms, and pool equipment were all evaluated for structural integrity, accessibility compliance, and energy efficiency. The final recommendation was that the required renovations were not cost-effective for the use the pool received.
