Jade Blair, marketing coordinator at Larson Design Group, recently presented a session about LinkedIn for students in Social Media in Business and Society classes at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The class is taught by Valerie Reynolds and focuses on various social media tools for creating and sharing content, as well as emerging social media tools for personal and business use. “LinkedIn is an underrated tool,” said Blair. “Many people don’t realize how much capability it has on a personal professional level, as well as for business sales and marketing activities.”
Blair’s presentation informed the students on how they can use LinkedIn to build a professional online presence for networking while in college and to assist in future job searches. She also covered how businesses like Larson Design Group use LinkedIn to stay in touch with clients, follow industry news, and publish content.
“It is never too early to start thinking about your future job search, and it is a good way to network within the academic environment to build connections,” said Blair. “My hope is that the students will learn some tips to improve their LinkedIn profiles that will benefit them when they start a job search.”
