Excavation for Storm Sewer at Suncrest Elementary

MORGANTOWN, WV – June 12, 2015 – In April of 2014, Monongalia County announced the State School Building Authority’s approval for $8.6 million in funds to be used to build a new elementary school.  The new school will hold 520 students from kindergarten to 5th grade.  Larson Design Group conducted the geotechnical investigation for the project in late 2014.  The project site is situated in an area underlain by glacial lake soils that extend to depths on the order of 60 feet.

Larson Design Group’s construction inspector, Tom Colella, has been on the project for the past month, monitoring the site development phase of the work.  Currently, the crew is working on the sanitary and storm sewer installation, fill placement and installation of subsurface drains.

The Suncrest Elementary School is on track to open in 2016.
