Jason Bellis, leader of Larson Design Group’s Apalachin office, has been named chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York’s Southern Tier. In this role, he will lead a coalition of firms in nine counties representing every discipline of engineering related to the built environment.
With nearly two decades of engineering experience, Bellis focuses on serving LDG clients in the design of water and sewage distribution and treatment systems, stormwater and floodplain management and land development. For Tioga Downs, he has grown an initial water/wastewater assignment into LDG’s comprehensive role as the raceway and casino’s civil engineering firm of record. For the Village of Greene, NY, he helped the client adapt to unforeseen soil conditions and nimbly find grant funding to demolish and rebuild a water collection plant – and has published about the project in the Spring 2017 issue of Clear Waters Magazine of the New York Water Environment Association.
“Jason’s diverse experience, coupled with his passion to apply innovative engineering solutions to today’s complex challenges, will serve the members of ACEC and the region well,” said Ronald Schirato, LDG’s Vice President of Civil Engineering.
An active community steward, Bellis is a member of the school board of Tioga Central School District and past member of the Tioga County Planning Board and the county’s Regional Planning and Development Board. He is an accredited interscholastic coach and officer with youth football and wrestling.
