Dear Clients, Family and Friends:


As we transmit this month's newsletter, we remain in the midst of a tremendous outpouring of community stewardship in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. These storms have ravaged large regions of the northeast, but they have not dampened the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor and business helping business. At LDG, our employees quickly mobilized to assist our clients with damage assessment of critical infrastructure. As one example, LDG bridge inspectors examined nearly 300 bridge structures within a one week period as the flood waters receded. I'm proud of the long hours and sense of urgency that was applied to this effort to ensure that impacted communities had safe access in order to begin the repair and rebuilding process.


Along with that effort, I'm even prouder of the volunteer response of LDG employees. Many of our staff members worked hand in hand with volunteers from other community businesses and organizations to help flood impacted families begin to clean-up and recover from the severe impacts created by the record setting flooding. Together, through collective donations of time and financial resources, we are rebuilding our communities. And in the process, we are demonstrating that even in the worst of times, the best in each of us has an opportunity to shine through in our community stewardship. My heartfelt thanks go out to all those that are a part of that demonstration.
