June 2011

We've gained a lot of momentum since our Kick-Off CNG Focus Group Education Day on April 6. This event brought together representatives from the natural gas industry, fleet operators, public transportation providers, the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, and Clean Cities to discuss how we may be able to use locally produced natural gas to provide a cleaner and more affordable fuel source for fleet vehicles.

Now, wheels are in motion for a public access CNG fueling station in Williamsport, PA. River Valley Transit (RVT) is seeking funding through the Alternative Fuel Incentive Grant (AFIG) program in order to add CNG to their fuel dispensers at their 1500 West Third Street location. This multi-municipal station, which fuels RVT, Lycoming County, the City of Williamsport, and the Williamsport Area School District among others will provide Pennsylvania's natural gas resources from the Marcellus Shale for vehicle fueling; fuel from the hills of Pennsylvania.

The mission of CNG Focus Group is to foster learning, collaboration, and action on CNG vehicle fueling & infrastructure as it relates to the Marcellus Shale in the North Central Pennsylvania region.

CNG Focus Group has recently launched www.cngfocusgroup.com. This online resource is designed to provide information on our featured RVT project, CNG news, grants and funding opportunities, legislation, and links to our affiliate organizations. We welcome community support and dialogue on this important issue.
