Words of Mouth
Working with LDG has been a win-win situation for the James V. Brown Library. They bring to the table all the creative design and technical engineering and architectural expertise needed to create a handsome, enduring building. They listen, they learn and they make the building work as a service as well as a structure. That's a unique combination.

Larson Design Group began as Hunt Engineers and Architects, P.C. in Corning, NY. The firm expanded into Central Pennsylvania through a merger in 1986 with Robert W. Ferrell Engineering and Surveying, and the opening of a Williamsport regional office. By September of 1988, Hunt’s Williamsport services were greatly expanded by a merger with John Hoffman Architect, adding seven architectural staff members.
LDG Goes Employee Owned
In 1993, the employees of the Williamsport-based company
acquired ownership of its offices through a 100% stock buyout.
The firm was renamed Larson Design Group and Larson Architectural Group to reflect the company’s new ownership
and independence, with Ken Larson (see below) as President.
Larson Design Group is a regional, employee-owned company with
160+ employees in four offices.
Ken Larson
Larson Design Group bears its name from our founder, Kenneth C. Larson. Ken served as President and guide from our inception in 1993 through April 2004, when he announced his retirement. Ken’s experience in engineering stemmed from a long career with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. There, he held the position of District Engineer for 20 years and also served as District Engineer for Pre-Construction, District Location Engineer, and Consultant Liaison Engineer. During his tenure, the District encompassed 9 counties with over 4,000 miles of highway.
In 1986, Larson joined in a merge between the surveying practice of Robert Ferrell and the branch office of the Corning, NY-based engineering firm, Hunt Engineers and Architects, P.C. From there, he worked as Office Manager and Vice President until 1993, when the branch office was bought from Hunt through a 100% employee stock buy-out. The new firm was named Larson Design Group to reflect its future and independence.
