design:retail Names David Balzer One of the Industry’s Top 40 Under 40

David Balzer, director of retail design for Larson Design Group, has been named to design:retail magazine’s fourth-annual 40 Under 40 list, which honors the retail design industry’s top young professionals and up-and-coming future leaders.

Balzer serves national retail clients with more than 450 stores in 36 states. Since he became a project manager in 2012, LDG’s retail practice has grown 33% percent in revenue, driven by a 45% percent in new client sales. He has helped his clients save time and money by incorporating innovative technology such as 3D visualization, virtual reality and cloud project management software into his projects. His pursuit of major grocery store chains has helped LDG expand its presence in this strategically targeted market.

Balzer has spent ten years volunteering and guest lecturing for his alma mater, Pennsylvania College of Technology, helping students gain real-world insight into architecture. He’s an advisor to the sustainability program at Penn College, hosts student tours of LDG’s facility, coordinates educational seminars and volunteers for the college’s STEM program.

The industry professionals who made design:retail’s 40 Under 40 list  were nominated by peers—colleagues, clients, vendors, supervisors—who submitted enough praise for these outstanding individuals to catch the attention of design:retail’s editors. The list represents a mix of retailers, designers, architects, manufacturers, brand managers, entrepreneurs and innovators.

design:retail’s 40 Under 40 honorees will be profiled in the April/May issue of the magazine. They will also be celebrated at design:retail HONORS on May 21 in New York City.
