Larson Design Group (LDG) recently formed a partnership with Newalta, a Calgary, Alberta-based company that specializes in product recovery and environmental services, to grow TerrAqua Resource Management, LDG’s subsidiary company that provides water treatment solutions to flowback and produced waters from Marcellus Shale development.

Through Newalta’s U.S. subsidiary, Newalta Environmental Services, Inc., the partnership will invest in the development and construction of additional TARM facilities to meet expanded development needs of the industry.

“Newalta’s expertise in operation of waste treatment, disposal, and recovery facilities will be a valuable asset to TARM and help improve efficiencies and enhance the environmental health and safety of facilities as TARM continues to grow,” explained Keith Kuzio, LDG President/CEO. “In addition, Newalta’s focus on employees, the community, and environment are all in line with [our] core values and vision for the growth for TARM.”

TARM’s highly-compliant recycle/reuse facility treats flowback and produced waters from Marcellus Shale Development and allows clients to recycle nearly all of their generated water. Operations such as TARM extend benefits of high compliance and sustainability within Marcellus Shale development.

TARM was recently selected to present at the Innovation Expo during the Shale Gas Insight 2011 Conference on September 7 and 8 in Philadelphia.

“Marcellus development is a highly regulated market sector that is improving through collaboration and innovative solutions,” said Quay Schappell, Chief Operating Officer for TARM. “TARM worked diligently with its clients to develop a service solution that succeeds in the marketplace.”

TARM is a subsidiary of Larson Design Group and is Pennsylvania’s first enterprise that recycles and reuses generated water from Marcellus Shale development. TARM was recognized in 2011 with a National Recognition Award from the American Consulting Engineers Council and American Consulting Engineers Council of Pennsylvania for design and development of the enterprise. TARM operates a zero-liquid-discharge, recycle/reuse facility at Water Tower Square in Williamsport via a permit issued by PA DEP. TARM started operations on April 13, 2010 and has helped Marcellus E&P firms recycle more than 58 million gallons of generated water.
