Larson Design Group Develops Energy Group to Meet Growing Trends
Recently, Larson Design Group (LDG) developed a group to specifically handle the growth in energy production within the Marcellus Shale and devote resources to meet client demands.
“The creation of the Energy group will allow us to concentrate knowledge leaders in work related to the Marcellus Shale, while gaining and applying technical knowledge that can help us provide new solutions that add value to our clients in this expanding market,” said Karl F. Matz, P.E., Director of LDG’s Energy Group.
As exploration and production expands in the Marcellus, so does the need for solutions that harness opportunities garnered by Marcellus well development and mid-stream services. The creation of the Energy group will increase LDG’s effectiveness in supporting development in both Marcellus and other natural gas formations while gaining knowledge in pipeline development.
“The firm’s expertise strengthens our professional network with industry leaders,” mentioned Martin J. Muggleton, LDG Vice President. “In support of work generated in the natural gas industry, our staff attends a rigorous schedule of industry tradeshows and makes regular presentations to industry, regulatory, and legislative leaders each year.”
“The firm has an open and complete dialog with these constituents, and this information sharing makes each party more knowledgeable and effective,” Muggleton said.
The Energy group will also play a role in providing solutions that support other forms of energy generated from natural gas drilling, including Compressed Natural Gas, or CNG. The group’s future goals include expansion into the mechanical side of CNG delivery, including compressors, meter stations, and delivery networks for natural gas vehicles.
As a firm, Larson Design Group provides design in support of other renewable and non-renewable energy related work such as hydro, wind, biofuel, solar, and geothermal, depending on a client’s specific goals and energy needs. While colleges and universities are looking into low-carbon, renewable energy, smaller clients may focus on geothermal or solar.
“For natural gas clients, their goals are reducing logistics costs, improving occupational safety, and compliance in water resources. In support of these clients, we offer designs based on evidence and experience,” Muggleton explained. Our firm sees how highly compliant assets and processes will help the region unlock the wealth of the Marcellus in a sustainable manner. This shale play required unconventional approaches. As professionals, we’re excited and challenged by this.”
